April 11 – June 8, 2025, at La Sporthèque


Become a certified Mat Pilates instructor and obtain an official certification from NPCP

Why Join This Training?
This program offers an in-depth and professional training in the Mat Pilates method, certified by NPCP. This certification is a prerequisite for obtaining the full Pilates certification (including equipment training).

Curriculum Overview:
  • History and philosophy of the Pilates method
  • Ethics and professionalism
  • Teaching skills
  • Fundamentals of movement anatomy
  • Classical Mat Pilates exercises (and modifications)
  • Practical teaching and observation
Training Structure:
Total training hours: 160 hours, including:

  • 80 hours of in-person classes
  • 30 hours of theoretical learning
  • 50 hours of practical experience
The training consists of four in-person weekends (20 hours each):

  • Fridays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturdays & Sundays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • May 23, 24, 25
  • June 6, 7, 8
Training Goals:
By the end of this program, participants will have acquired:
✔ Mastery in practicing and teaching fundamental and classical exercises
✔ Proficiency in beginner, intermediate, and advanced exercises with modifications
✔ A solid foundation in functional anatomy
✔ Understanding of ethics, safety, and professionalism in teaching
✔ Effective communication, pedagogy, and teaching techniques
✔ The ability to design and lead private and group classes
✔ Continuing Education Credits (CEC)

Independent Work:
Each student must submit a weekly report, including:

  • 10 hours of lesson observation
  • 10 hours of personal practice
  • 10 hours of class preparation
A 90-minute final exam (oral, practical, and multiple-choice) will conclude the training.

⚠ Mandatory Attendance: Students must attend all workshops to qualify for the final exam and certification.

Meet Your Instructor: Joëlle Segers
With over 40 years of experience as a physiotherapist, Joëlle Segers has an extensive background in injury prevention and movement quality. A former dancer and dance teacher, she developed BALANCE, a program designed to prevent injuries in dancers.

Her Pilates journey includes:
✔ Comprehensive certification in Mat and Equipment Pilates (Ann McMillan Pilates, Polestar 2004-2006)
✔ Certified Advanced Personal Trainer (Can-Fit Pro, 2007)
✔ Certified Teacher Trainer for NPCP since 2022
✔ Member of the PMA (Pilates Method Alliance)

Joëlle has been teaching Pilates in the Outaouais region since 2004 and at La Sporthèque since 2019. She has trained multiple cohorts of certified instructors specializing in Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrel.
Investment:
  • Early Bird Rate (before February 22): $2,400 + taxes
  • Regular Rate (after February 22): $2,800 + taxes
💳 Payment Details:

A non-refundable $500 deposit is required upon registration.
A payment plan is available, but full payment must be completed by April 1, 2025.
